Besides the sunflowers, the area is known for its numerous old fortified villages (bastides), such as Monflanquin, Monpazier and Villeréal. You can also visit the impressive castle of Bonaguil or the Château de Monbazillac, where you can taste delicious white wines. The cozy town of Villeneuve with its picturesque houses along the river Lot and a 13th-century bridge over the river is not far away and well worth a visit. A little further away but easy to reach is Bergerac, idyllically situated on the Dordogne River. There you can admire the statue of Cyrano or visit the tobacco museum.
