Holiday property - Mariekerke

Welcome to our splendid Zeeland family home!!
Providing a fantastic view of the landscape all round, our Zeeland family home is situated at a unique and idyllic location in the centre of the island of Walcheren, close to the sea and the beach, on the edge of a village called Mariekerke.
We renovated the house (1880) extensively in 2013 and, respecting its history, converted it into a modern and comfortable family home providing plenty of space and luxury and enabling us to relax and enjoy our holidays to the full. And, of course, you too!! Not surprisingly, key words are space and quietness both indoors (250 m2) and outdoors
(2850 m2).
The family home comprises a main building and two outhouses, situated round a beautiful garden. The main building has seven bedrooms (14 beds and 1 child’s bed), which means that it can accommodate 14 persons maximum.
Downstairs the house is divided into three large separate rooms and a sleeping unit consisting of two bedrooms, a bathroom and a toilet.
- The heart of the house is the high living room (formerly the barn) with a large fireplace and a wooden roof and walls. You can step into the garden through the French windows.
- The next room is the fully equipped kitchen-diner, also with French windows to the garden.
- The room at the back is the so-called television room, where you can watch a film or read a book and enjoy the crackling of burning wood in the wood-burning stove.
There are three bathrooms with shower and fitted washbasin, three toilets and a scullery with a washing machine.
Owing to the separate rooms, everyone can do as they please
Garden and chill house
The charming, woody garden has plenty of sunny spots and a terrace with an outdoor kitchen (BBQ) and garden table. Next to the dwelling is the chill house , being the former garage converted into a chill, relax and play area with sauna, table tennis table and wood burning stove. An area where everyone can relax. (this is not yet finished, probably ready end of august 2014)
Central location
Our family home is situated at Mariekerke (municipality of Meliskerke), about 4 km from the beach of Zoutelande. Due to the central location of the village of Mariekerke on Walcheren, most places of interest are within easy reach, for example the distance to the cosy old seaside resort of Domburg is 6 km, to Middelburg 8 km, to Vlissingen 12 km and to the historic town of Veere only 11 km.
The baker’s and the butcher’s (the best of the whole of Walcheren!!) are located at 2 km from the house.
In other words, almost any place is within cycling distance.
All mod cons available
The house is ready for you to enjoy it without delay. Having parked your car beside the house (3 places), your holiday begins. Your bed (with down-filled duvet) has already been made and towels are waiting for you. Wifi and a large television set are at your disposal. You may also use the sauna. The entire house is heated by central heating and most rooms have floor heating.
One child’s bed and two high chairs are available
We have a beach cabin on the beach of Zoutelande (next to the Zeeland Riviera) which you may use.
